SBI General Claim Car Insurance

A claim is the legal right of a policyholder as per the insurance policy. The claim amount is set by the insurer to cover the loss of the policyholder who has paid his or her premiums on time.SBI General's dedicated and experienced claims team offers you a free, fair and transparent claim procedure and also allows you to track the status in real time. The company always tries to pay a valid and fair claim amount within a stipulated time period. It also has a wide network of over 2500 cashless garages to render a hassle-free service. Moreover, SBI General has maintained a sterling claim settlement ratio and is rated iAAA.

Documents required for cashless and reimbursement claims

In general, you need to submit the following documents:

  • Completely filled Claim Form
  • Policy Document
  • RC Copy
  • Driving License of the driver driving the vehicle at the time of loss.

If asked, additional documents such as a police FIR report, endorsement, and others must be submitted.

SBI General Claim Process

1) Initiation of Claim

Get in touch with SBI General immediately and inform them about the accident and location. This will initiate the claim process. To reach SBI General, call the toll free number 1800 22 1111 or SMS "CLAIM" to 561612 .You can email your details on customer.care@sbigeneral.in. Alternatively, you also initiate the claim online post filling basic details: https://www.sbigeneral.in/SBIG/intimate-claim.

2) Confirmation of the process

Within 24 hours of registering the claim, the claim manager/executive will call you and provide a claim number/reference number. This also means that the company has accepted your claim request.

3) Registration of FIR

Lodging an FIR at the nearest police station is mandatory in case of grave injury to any person or theft of the vehicle. Also, explain about the accident (if asked) and furnish the details of witnesses (if any) to the company.

4) Service at workshop

Tow/drive your damaged car to the nearest cashless garage for repairs. SBI General has a network of more than 2500 garages for cashless claim settlement.You must also submit the required documents to the claims manager or executive and have them verified against the originals.

5) Sit and relax

SBI General would approve the claim amount once all documents and formalities have been completed.The repair costs are paid directly to the garage by the company, while you need to pay only your part of liabilities.

How to file a car insurance reimbursement claim?

If your car is repaired at a garage that is not approved by SBI General, you will be responsible for the entire cost of the repairs. Keep any repair receipts and send them in to the company.You will be compensated later with the entitled claim amount.

SBI No Claim Bonus

The SBI General Insurance rewards its policyholders with No Claim Bonus for not raising any car insurance claim in a policy year. The NCB is offered in terms of discount at the time of car insurance policy renewal and ranges between 20% to 50%. To get the NCB and accumulate it with every claim free year, you should renew your claim on time. If you are unable to renew your plan within the specified time, you may do so within 90 days of its expiry, which is known as the grace period; otherwise, your NCB benefit will become null and void.

The No Claim Bonus is unique in that it can be transferable. Because it is given to the policyholder rather than the insured vehicle for safe driving, it can be transferred when you buy a new car or port to another car insurance policy.This benefit is applicable only on the standalone own-damage car insurance policy or on the own-damage component of the comprehensive policy premium. To secure the NCB, basically, there are two ways, where one is to avoid making any claim in a policy year and the other is to opt for an NCB protect add-on cover which keeps this benefit intact even after making a claim.
