About Cholamandalam MS COVID-19 Health Insurance

COVID-19 Policy offered by Cholamandalam MS General Insurance is a specialised health insurance policy that covers you and your family in case you get diagnosed with novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and helps reduce the financial burden. The policy provides you a lump sum benefit of 100% of the sum insured on diagnosis of COVID-19. You can be the Proposer of this policy if you are aged between 18 years and 65 years. Children aged between 3 months and 25 years can be covered under the policy as well. Other members that you can include are legally wedded spouse, and dependent parents. The policy comes with a waiting period of 16 days, after which the claims will be admissible. Kindly be informed that the waiting period will be calculated from the date of commencement of the policy.

COVID-19 Policy comes with a wide range of sum insured options starting from Rs. 1 Lakh up to Rs. 5 Lakh (in multiples of Rs. 1 Lakh). To buy the policy, there is no requirement of health check-up. Also, the policy comes with two optional covers namely, daily cash benefit and loss of job, which can be purchased for extended coverage by paying an extra premium at the time of policy purchase. If covered under the policy, you can avail tax benefits under Section 80D of the Income Tax Act, 1961.

  • Diagnosis and treatment availed outside the geographical boundaries of India
  • Any treatment taken on OPD basis is not covered under this plan.
  • Diagnosis and treatment outside India
  • If the insured has travelled out of India within last 3 months
  • If the testing done at a center other than the ones authorized in India

Add-ons to Enhance Benefits

  • Daily Cash Benefit

    This add-on provides you daily benefit for every completed 24 hours of hospitalisation or quarantine for diagnosis or suspected COVID-19 up to a maximum of 15 days. This benefit can be purchased for sum insured of Rs. 250, Rs. 500, Rs. 750, and Rs. 1,000, which is applicable above the base sum insured. This benefit will be applicable at policy level and shall not vary for individuals covered under a single policy.
  • Loss of Job

    This add-on benefit provides you 50% of the base sum insured every month up to a maximum of 3 months for loss of job due to diagnosis or quarantine for confirmed case of COVID-19. You can buy this add-on by paying an extra premium at the time of policy purchase.
