Cholamandalam MS Corona Rakshak Health Insurance

Corona Rakshak Health Insurance Plan offered by Cholamandalam General Insurance is designed to address the health insurance needs of people subject to the treatment of COVID-19. This policy promises to provide a lump sum benefit to insured persons on being tested positive for COVID-19 and requiring hospitalisation. The coverage under this plan shall be offered on an individual basis only with the various sum insured options such as Rs. 50,000, Rs. 1 lakh, Rs. 1.5 lakh, Rs. 2 lakh and Rs. 2.5 lakh. However, a proposer can take this plan for his or her family member without covering himself or herself. The sum insured opted shall be applied individually to each member covered under the policy.

When it comes to coverage under this plan, a lump sum benefit equal to 100% of the sum insured shall be payable on getting diagnosed with COVID-19, requiring hospitalisation for a minimum continuous period of 72 hours. The diagnosis should be from a government authorised diagnostic centre. This is a one-time benefit applicable for the entire policy term of the policy and shall terminate upon the payment of benefit. However, the plan can be availed only after completing a waiting period of 15 days from the policy commencement date. People can purchase this health insurance policy for different policy terms of 3.5 months, 6.5 months and 9.5 months without going through any pre-policy medical checkup.
