About National Critical Illness Health Insurance

Today’s fast-paced life is making people easily fall prey to life-threatening diseases such as Cancer, Diabetes, Stroke, etc. But more often than not, the standard medical insurance plans exclude such illnesses from their coverage features. So, to deal with such illnesses, Critical Illness Mediclaim Policy brought to you by National Insurance Company proves to be a boon. This policy gets you and your family covered with up to 37 life-threatening or critical illnesses. Under this policy, the insured individual is paid a lump sum amount on diagnosis of any specified critical illness. Anyone aged between 18 years and 65 years can seek coverage under this policy.

The policy is available in two variants, namely Plan A and Plan B. Plan A provides cover for 11 critical illnesses whereas Plan B provides cover for up to 37 critical illnesses. The policyholders also have an option to add two more critical illnesses, namely Permanent Paralysis of Limbs and Total and Permanent Blindness. Remember, to make a claim, it is necessary for the insured individual to survive for at least 30 days after he/she has been diagnosed with a critical illness.

National Critical Illness Insurance Policy Expert Review

  • Expert Review

We are at increased risk of critical diseases due to the change in our lifestyle and diet. At times, hereditary and age also become the cause of critical illnesses. Your basic health insurance may not cover the costs of the treatment and recovery process for critical illnesses. It’s therefore important to have a critical insurance policy, especially if you have a family history of life-threatening disease. Critical Illness Insurance policy by National Insurance has been designed to cover you and your family from 37 critical illnesses (11 diseases in Plan A and 37 diseases in Plan B including those covered under Plan A).

Available for people aged between 18 years and 65 years, the policy offers unique benefits by covering expenses in case the insured is diagnosed or affected by any of the specified critical diseases. On diagnosis of the disease, the National Insurance Company pays a lump sum amount to the insured person.

  • Major Attractions

The diseases covered by the Plan A and the Plan B under the Critical Illness Insurance policy are cancer, kidney failure, bone marrow transplant, multiple sclerosis, open chest CABG, heart attack, stroke, aorta surgery, open heart replacement and many others. The policy also comes with an option to add two more critical illnesses, including Total and Permanent Blindness and Permanent Paralysis of Limbs. Below are some more features covered under the plan:

    • Sum insured ranges between Rs. 1 Lakh and Rs. 75 Lakh
    • The cover is available for self, spouse, dependent children and parents
    • A fixed lump sum amount is paid to the insured in a single transaction
    • Add-on benefits: Permanent Paralysis of Limbs and Total Blindness
    • Provision to cover pre-existing conditions on payment of additional premium under Plan B of the policy
    • The policy is available for a period of 1 year
    • Several discount options like Early Entry Discount, Family Discount, Staff Discount and Online Discount
    • Midterm inclusion of family members (the spouse can be included within 60 days of marriage only)
  • What’s More?

Contracting a critical disease carries a negative impact on your earning potential. With the National Critical Illness Policy in hand, you are able to secure your family from critical illnesses. You can provide them with the best possible treatment without losing your existing investments. Some more benefits under the policy include:

    • The policy can be renewed lifetime
    • Premiums paid for this policy are allowed for Income Tax Benefit under Section 80D of the Income Tax Act 1961
    • Portability option is available for similar products as per IRDAI rules
    • Dedicated third party claim service
    • Free-look period of 15 days to continue or cancel the policy
  • Conclusion

Sticking to a healthy diet and following an exercise regime may keep critical illnesses at bay. But there is no surety of not falling prey to the diseases. Better, buy the critical illness health insurance policy. Though some plans reduce the number of critical diseases getting covered, the Plan B of National Critical Insurance Policy lets you get cover for a number of critical illnesses. Also, the insurer guarantees to pay the lump sum amount in a single transaction. Overall, it’s the right policy for those living on the verge of being diagnosed with critical illnesses.

InsuranceDekho brings you a convenient way to compare a number of critical insurance policies. It also allows you to migrate to similar policies through portability and get proper assistance at the time of renewal and filing claims. However, it’s advisable to buy the policy considering a few other factors like family history, type of job, medical inflation and age.
