How To Make National Cashless Bike Insurance Claim?
National General Insurance has formulated the bike insurance claim procedure in the following simple steps to facilitate its policyholders with a hassle-free experience:
Step 1: Contact National General Insurance
To initiate the claim settlement procedure, the policyholder should immediately inform the insurer after the incident, be it theft, accident or any damage to the bike. You can get in touch with National General Insurance by dialling 1800-345-0330. The call should be made within 24 hours of the unfortunate event of an accident. It is advisable to click pictures of the place where the unfortunate event had occurred and collect the number of witnesses as it may serve as proof when you register for the claim.
Step 2: Register Claim
A representative from National General Insurance reverts back to you within 24 hours. You have to inform the representative of the following details:
- Policy Number
- Date and time of the accident
- Description of estimated loss
- Survey location where the vehicle can be surveyed by our loss assessor
- Name of the driver with contact no and his/ her driving license details
- Insured Contact Details
The executive provides you with a claim reference number for future reference. Collect the claim form from the nearest branch.
Step 3: Survey of Damages
A company surveyor is sent to assess the extent of the damages caused to the bike during the accident. You can submit the duly filled claim form, policy documents and proves to the surveyor.
Step 4: Claim Settlement
After assessing all the aspects, the surveyor gives approval. The insurer confirms its financial and legal liabilities and pays all the expenses of repair of the insured’s bike to the garage. The claim amount is calculated factorizing the deductibles and depreciation into consideration.
How To Make National Reimbursement Bike Insurance Claim?
A reimbursement claim can be registered if you fail to take the insured bike to the network garage or wish to repair it in any other garage. You can receive compensation for repairing the bike through a reimbursement claim. The process of placing a reimbursement claim is described in the following steps:
Step 1: Contact the insurer
You can initiate the reimbursement process by making a call on its helpline number 1800-345-0330. You should contact the insurer immediately after the accident or theft of the insured’s bike.
Step 2: Register A Claim
National Insurance company executive calls you back after the intimation. You have to inform the executive about the policy number and details about the accident. You receive a unique claim reference number from the executive.
Step 3: Survey of the Damages Incurred
A surveyor appointed by the insurer checks the condition of the bike before it is sent for repairs. After assessing the extent of damage, the surveyor produces an estimate of the cost of repair. You have to submit the documents, duly filled claim form and the proves to the surveyor.
Step 4: Repair and Reimbursement
After the approval of the surveyor, you can send the bike to your desired garage. Once the repair is done, you have to submit the bills and receipts of repair along with policy documents to the insurer for the reimbursement. The company checks the details and finally disburses the claim amount taking into account all the deductibles and depreciation.
Common National Bike Insurance Claim Rejection Reasons
National General Insurance has a set of specific conditions for the approval claim. The claim is rejected by the insurance company under the following circumstances:
- Intoxication
- Act of negligence
- Driving without license
- Misinterpretation of facts
- Registration of a fraud Claim
- Claiming wrong coverage amount
- Improper functioning of the vehicle parts
- Lack of details required to process the claim
- Delay in intimation about the mishap to the insurer.
National No Claim Bonus
National General Insurance Company offers with every two-wheeler own-damage cover No Claim Bonus. This a reward that every insurance provider offers with own-damage covers for every claim-free year. The reward is cumulative, in that it becomes higher every consecutive year. In the fifth consecutive year, it becomes 50 per cent. This is the maximum a policyholder can receive as a No Claim Bonus from their insurance company. The NCB is disabled when a policyholder files a claim. The claim amount here is insignificant. Hence, it is advised that in case of a mishap file a claim only when the damage is significant and higher than the NCB.
To maintain the NCB insurance holders are also expected to keep their insurance policy up to date by renewing it on time. If they fail to do so, the NCB will be lost. Insurance companies offer a grace period of 90 days from the date of expiry to avert such a situation. Hence, make sure to renew your two-wheeler insurance on time or at least within the grace period. Any delays after this period will lead to the complete cancellation of the insurance policy and the accumulated NCB. Additionally, during renewal, if the insurance holder feels that a different insurance provider would be a better fit, there is no need to worry as the NCB is transferable in nature. It is a benefit that is given to the policyholder for their safe driving habits, hence, it is attached to the person rather than the vehicle. Therefore, if you choose to sell your current two-wheeler to purchase another one, the insurance provider will transfer this accumulated NCB to the new policy as well.
