• In the Union Budget 2021, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the Atmanirbahr Swasth Bharat Yojana.
• There is a provision of Rs. 2.23 lakh for health care in this scheme.
• Investigative centers will be established in all districts.
• The PMASBY plan provides for a Rs 64,180 crore provision expected to be spent over six years.
• According to this concept, critical care hospital blocks will be built in 12 major institutions and 602 districts.
• About 11,000 urban and rural health and wellness clinics, as well as 17,000 rural health clinics, will benefit from this effort.
• This proposal calls for the construction of 15 health emergency operations and two mobile hospitals.
• 3383 public health units have been established in 11 states.
• In all districts, investigative offices will be established.

The Pradhan Mantri Atmanirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana (PMASBY) aims to fill gaps in public health infrastructure, particularly in primary and critical care facilities, in both rural and urban areas. It also seeks to establish a network of surveillance laboratories at the block, district, regional, and national levels in urban areas to create an IT-enabled sickness monitoring system. Furthermore, the PMASBY initiative intends to renovate 33 existing public health units and construct 17 new public health units at entry points. 
This will help governments in better preventing, detecting, investigating, and combating disease epidemics and public health issues. In addition, the Prime Minister's Ayushman Bharat Health Facilities Mission aims to improve the availability of health professionals in India by making better use of existing district hospital facilities, trying to correct inequities in medical college distribution, and improving the use of existing district hospital facilities.

• The PMASBY initiative will help roughly 17,788 existing rural health and wellness institutions in ten high-focus states.
• Furthermore, this initiative would establish 11,024 health and wellness clinics in metropolitan areas across all 50 states.
• Through dedicated critical care hospital blocks, it will deliver critical care services in all Indian districts with populations above 5 lakh.
• In districts with populations of less than 5 lakh people, critical care services would be given on a referral basis.
• Anyone covered by India's public healthcare system would have access to a network of diagnostic facilities that will offer a wide range of services.
• As part of this project, an integrated health information system connecting all public health laboratories would be expanded to all Indian states and union territories.
• As part of the project's three stages, 157 more medical schools have been approved across the country. Classes have already begun at 63 medical schools.
• Frontline health professionals will be trained as part of the PMASBY project to create a workforce capable of responding to any public health emergency.
