PM Modi to Take Covid-19 Vaccine Jab in Second Phase
According to sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with other chief ministers will take the Covid-19 vaccine dose in the second phase of the mass vaccination drive. PM Modi had urged all the people to not ignore the second dose of the vaccine. He has also asked citizens to avoid any kind of rumors regarding the efficacy of the vaccines.
It is to be noted that other than the PM, other leaders, bureaucrats, government officials having age over 50 years will be administered the novel coronavirus vaccine in the second phase of the vaccination. As per the plan, the COVID-19 vaccine will be administered to people above 50 years of age. Also, people with comorbidities will be given the Covid-19 vaccine jab in the second phase of vaccination.
The move by the Indian PM is said to inculcate confidence among the masses amid concerns over the vaccine efficacy and safety. The vaccines in the spotlight are Serum Institute’s Covishield and Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin, which received approval by the Drugs Controller General of India.
According to the reports of the Union Health Ministry, on the first day of the vaccination drive, about 1,91,181 people were administered the coronavirus vaccines.
Guidelines have been issued by the Center to states and Union Territories. As per the same, only people above the age of 18 years are allowed for vaccination. Pregnant women, those unsure of their pregnancy, and lactating mothers are not allowed to take the jab.
