PM Modi To Launch Covid-19 Vaccination Drive Virtually
January 16, 2021 marks the beginning of Covid-19 vaccination drive in India. According to a statement from the PM’s office, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the Covid-19 vaccination drive at 10:30 AM via video conferencing. It is to be noted that around 3,000 session sites across the country will be a part of the virtual launch.
The PMO informed that at the time of the launch, 3006 session sites will be virtually connected across all the states and union territories. Moreover, vaccination of around 100 beneficiaries will be carried out at each session site on the day of inauguration.
During the vaccination programme, the use of Co-WIN application will be done. This online digital platform, developed by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare will help in facilitating real time information regarding the vaccine as well as beneficiaries. The Union Health Ministry confirmed that a dedicated toll-free 24x7 - 1075, has been activated. This national helpline number will address people’s different queries based on the coronavirus pandemic, rollout of the novel coronavirus vaccine and the Co-WIN software.
It is to be noted that nearly 3 crore healthcare and frontline workers will be vaccinated during the first phase of the drive. Soon after receiving EUA, Covishield and Covaxin were transferred to all states as well as union territories by air.
