National Insurance Objects in Fresh Bids for Punjab Ayushman Bharat

State-owned National Insurance has shown disagreement with Punjab government as it invited a fresh round of bids for Ayushman Bharat program. The company stated that the state government has invited a fresh round of bidding once it was initially shortlisted. Also, the fresh tender private companies were also made eligible for the same ignoring their poor track record.

Ayushman Bharat is one of the world’s largest government health care program that is functioning to cover nearly 50 Crore poor people.

As per an article by Economic Times, National Insurance has stated that the subsequent cancellation of the tender, which they won, has led to their bid price being exposed to their market competitors thereby putting them in a disadvantageous condition.

The company stated, “Private players always quote low to win the bid and reject claims in the latter half of the policy period once claims increase and start hurting their profit.”
