India Becomes the Fastest Country to Vaccinate 6 Million Against Covid-19
As per the reports of the Union Health Ministry, India has become the fastest country to perform vaccination of 6 million beneficiaries against Covid-19. India achieved the 6 million mark in 24 days, while it took the USA 26 days and the UK 46 days to vaccinate 6 million.
The provisional report available with the Union Health Ministry, over 60,35,660 beneficiaries were coronavirus vaccinated through 1,24,744 sessions. The total number of beneficiaries comprises 54,12,270 healthcare workers and 6,23,390 frontline workers. It must be noted that on the 24th day of country-wide vaccination for Covid-19, a total of 2,23,298 beneficiaries were vaccinated in 8,257 sessions.
According to the data available, 11 States/UT have performed vaccination of more than 65% of the registered healthcare workers. Delhi, Chandigarh, Punjab, J&K, Ladakh, D&NH, Tamil Nadu, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, and Puducherry have reported less than 40% coverage of vaccinating healthcare workers.
Harsh Vardhan, Union Health Minister, addressing the vaccination drive said, “From the month of February, we have also started vaccinating frontline workers for novel coronavirus.”
According to the Union Health Ministry, 17 States/UTs that have not reported any deaths in the last 24 hours are Rajasthan, J&K, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, A&N Islands, D&D & D&N, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Mizoram, Nagaland, Lakshadweep, Ladakh (UT), Sikkim, Meghalaya, Puducherry, and Andhra Pradesh.
It must be noted that covid-19 vaccination program in India was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 16th January. From February 2, the vaccination of the frontline workers was started.
At present, India has one of the highest Recovery Rates in the whole world at 97.2%.
