Corona Kavach Policy - What Is It?

A Corona Kavach Policy is a compensation health insurance policy created specifically to cover hospitalisation and medical expenditures associated with Covid-19 therapy. This coverage covered pre- and post-hospitalisation expenditures, as well as domiciliary expenses, home care treatment expenses, and AYUSH therapy payable by the policyholder in the event that someone tested positive with Covid-19 illness.

During the hospitalisation time, a Corona Kavach Policy covers the policyholder for just any concomitant medical issues caused by coronavirus. Among the several actions and efforts undertaken by the Indian government, the insurance sector has also developed different coronavirus-specific basic and standard health insurance policies to cover the hospitalisation costs associated with COVID-19 treatment. What Is Covered Under Corona Kavach Policy?

Following are the factors covered under Corona Kavach Policy -

  1. HOSPITALISATION COSTS - If you are diagnosed with Covid-19 and are hospitalised to a hospital for at least 24 hours, the coverage will pay your hospitalisation expenditures. Furthermore, the coverage covers nursing costs, surgeon's and doctor's fees, ventilator fees, surgical appliances, room rent, and so forth.
  2. AYUSH TREATMENT - Treatment for Covid-19 using Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) is covered up to the policy's sum insured value.
  3. ICU EXPENSES - If you are hospitalised to the ICU, your medical bills may be greater. But don't worry, because this policy covers ICU/ICCU expenditures.
  4. CONSUMABLES - The policy covers consumable products such as PPE kits, oxygen, gloves, and masks.
  5. CONDITIONS THAT COEXIST - Along with Covid-19 medication, the coverage covers treatment costs for any comorbidities.
  6. HOME CARE TREATMENT EXPENSES - The coverage covers Covid-19 home care therapy for up to 14 days if advised by a medical practitioner. The benefit also includes doctor's visits, pharmacy fees, and so on.
  7. PRE AND POST HOSPITALISATION CHARGES - Medical expenditures, including consultation fees and Covid-19 diagnostic test costs, are covered 15 days before and 30 days after hospitalisation or home care therapy.
  8. DAILY HOSPITAL CASH - This is a supplemental cover that is available as an option. If you are hospitalised for more than 24 hours, you can get Rs. 250 to Rs. 2,500 each day (0.5 percent of the money covered) for a maximum of 15 days.
  9. COVERAGE OFFERED - Since it is an indemnity-based policy, the benefits are followed by a hospitalisation of at least 24 hours. However, particular attention is required when therapy is provided at home when the patient is unable to travel to the hospital.

How To File For Claims Under Corona Kavach Policy?

The Corona Kavach Policy's claim process is identical to that of a traditional health insurance policy. The policy can be used to get either cashless or reimbursement benefits.

Following are the steps to file for claim under Corona Kavach Policy -

  1. When a claim is made, the first step is to notify the insurer. The claim commencement period is determined by the kind of hospitalisation, and it must be maintained for 72 hours in the event of planned hospitalisation and 24 hours in the case of emergency hospitalisation.
  2. A pre-authorisation letter requesting cashless claim approval from the insurer must be provided in the case of a cashless claim. In the case of reimbursement, however, the insured pays the hospital fees on his or her own first and then files a claim later.
  3. When the claim request is approved, the insurance either pays the hospital bills immediately or reimburses the charges up to the acceptable amount.
