Exclusions and Limitations of Star Health Plans
Star Health plans have some rules and regulations of exclusions and limitations.
They are included-
1. Pre-Existing Diseases (PED)
- All the expenses for a pre-existing disease are excluded until the expiry of 36 months of continuous coverage.
- However, this exclusion will only apply to an insured person with constant coverage for up to 12 months.
2. Waiting Periods
- It is excluded if any illness occurs within the first 30 days from policy inception.
- Specified illnesses like gallbladder stones, kidney stones, hernias, etc., will not get coverage for the first year.
- Specified illnesses like cataracts, ENT diseases, etc., are excluded for the first two years.
3. Other Exclusions
- Expenses related to any admission, primarily for diagnostics and evaluation purposes only, are excluded.
- Expenses related to any admission, primarily for enforced bed rest and not for receiving treatment, are excluded.
- Expenses related to the surgical treatment of obesity are excluded unless certain conditions are met.
- Expenses related to diseases of the cervix, uterus, fallopian tubes, Ovary, uterine bleeding, and pelvic inflammatory diseases are excluded.
- All types of transplants and related surgery expenses (Other than Bone marrow transplants for acute haematological malignancies and acute medical emergencies are excluded.
- Expenses related to any treatment to change characteristics of the body to those of the opposite sex are excluded.
- Expenses for cosmetic or plastic surgery are excluded unless for reconstruction following an accident, burn, cancer, etc.
- Expenses of the treatment for alcoholism, drugs, or any addictive condition are excluded.
- Expenses related to unproven treatment, services, and supplies for or in connection with any treatment.
- Any expenses related to sterility, infertility, and advanced reproductive technologies such as IVF, ZIFT, GIFT, and ICSI are excluded.
Limitations
- Robotic surgeries, stereotactic radio surgeries, etc., have limits per policy period based on the sum insured.
- Expenses related to any treatment hazardous or adventure sports have some limitations.
- The policies are subject to all limits, sub-limits, co-payments, and deductibles per the policy contract.
