Reliance General Insurance Plunges into Running Ayushman Bharat Scheme in Meghalaya
Reliance General Insurance has plunged into running Ayushman Bharat Scheme in Meghalaya. After signing the contract with the State Nodal Agency for Megha Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS), Reliance General Insurance Co. Ltd has implemented MHIS - Phase IV in convergence with Ayushman Bharat Yojana. With this move, people are able to avail the benefits of this Yojana at empanelled led health facilities in and outside the state.
A majority of states in the country has been reported to implement this big-ticket health insurance scheme for the poor. Although many private insurance companies have not yet started running this Government’s plan, RGI has done this for the benefits of the poor people in the state of Meghalaya.
According to media reports, only nine states have so far chosen a pure health insurance model. Seven states have opted for mixed models, in which most of the insurers are from the public sector. Many states have chosen the trust model. Reliance General Insurance has chosen to run the scheme on insurance mode.
Launched in 2018 under the Ayushman Bharat Mission, Ayushman Bharat Yojana is also known as National Health Protection Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana or ModiCare. It is a centrally sponsored scheme.
