PM Modi Takes His First Shot of Covid-19 Vaccine
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took his first shot of Covid-19 vaccine this morning at AIIMS Hospital, Delhi. PM Modi became the first beneficiary in the second phase of the countrywide covid-19 vaccination drive.
It must be noted that PM Modi was administered India’s indegenous coronavirus vaccine, Covaxin developed by Bharat Biotech and ICMR. Today, the country begins vaccination of people over 60 years of age and those over 45 years who have illnesses.
In his tweet in the morning, PM Modi applauded the Indian scientists and doctors for their immense contribution in the worldwide fight against Covid-19 pandemic. He also shared an image of himself getting covid-19 vaccinated in the tweet. PM Modi also made an appeal to all the eligible people of the country to get vaccinated, urging all the citizens to join hands to make India free from Covid-19.
As per a statement from the PM’s office, Mr. Modi chose to take the shot early and was taken to AIIMS Hospital without any special route restrictions in order to avoid inconvenience to the public.
India has taken its coronavirus vaccination programme to another level today by covering people over 60 years and individuals over 45 years who have illnesses. Registrations will open today 9 am at www.cowin.gov.in as well as at the Aarogya Setu app. It must be noted that there will be walk-in vaccinations in some places as well.
India began its covid-19 vaccination drive on January 16 in which Serum Institute's Covishield and Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin are being used. More Covid-19 vaccines including ZyCov-D and Sputnik-V are expected to gain usage approval in the coming time.
