COVID-19 Vaccine Plan to Include Wedding Halls, Polling Booths & More
India’s health administrators are currently evaluating multiple sites for Covid-19 vaccine administration. Wedding halls and polling booths are to name a few. Since vaccination of 300 million Indians by the middle of the next year is what the government aims, a vast number of sites are being taken into consideration. Both private hospitals and nursing homes will also be considered for Covid-19 vaccination purposes. Having tight control over the entire process is in the planning.
Right from polling booths to marriage halls, every site will be specifically designed to perform vaccination of at least 100 recipients. The chosen sites will require to be spacious, with at least three rooms. Also, the closeness to the homes or offices of the recipients will be considered. It is to be noted that the vaccination process will be held from 9am to 5pm in all sites.
As per the guidelines, out of the three rooms, the first would be dedicated to identification of recipients and paperwork. The second room will be used for vaccination purposes and the third would be a recovery room for half an hour.
As per the officials, there are two types of sites that we have, namely fixed session sites and outreach sites. The number of recipients in the locality along with the Covid-19 vaccine delivery & administration convenience would be used for identifying the site. For outreach sites, a large number of recipients are being identified from the voter list. It would be best to allocate them sites in polling booths.
Schools, colleges, and community halls are also options that health authorities are looking into for serving as outreach sites. As per center’s guidelines to states, municipal offices, railway hospitals, marriage places (halls), panchayat bhawans, etc. can be considered as outreach session sites if they meet all the desired conditions for arranging a session.
