45% Health Workers Across India Vaccinated in 18 Days
India has inoculated around 45% of healthcare workers across the country against the novel coronavirus in 18 days since the launch of the vaccination drive on January 16. As per the official data till February 2, India has become the fastest country to succeed at vaccinating over 4 million people.
On Wednesday, 2,48,662 beneficiaries were vaccinated, making the total reach up to 43.9 lakh till late evening. It must be noted that a total of 92,61,227 health workers were enrolled from the public as well as private sector for covid-19 vaccination.
In comparison to India, the US took 20 days to reach the ‘Fastest to Reach 4 Million Doses’ mark. While it took 39 days for the UK and Israel to vaccinate four million people.
The top 4 positions for ‘Percentage of Health Workers Vaccinated’ went to Lakshadweep at 90.0%, Madhya Pradesh at 69.4%, Rajasthan at 64.7% and Uttar Pradesh at 50.0%.
It must be noted that Gujarat and West Bengal have begun the novel coronavirus vaccination of frontline workers. More states are expected to join these two this week.
The Indian government is aimed at inoculating a total of around three crore health and frontline workers by March-April, 2021 on priority basis.
