Precautions for People Staying With a Self-quarantined Person
Staying with a person who is self-quarantined at your home can be a challenge. The possibility of getting the contagious COVID-19 infection can be very high. It is, therefore, important to take some precautionary measures while staying and taking care of a self-quarantined person.

The person you are staying with is having respiratory symptoms, but his medical report for COVID-19 is awaited. In that case, you need to take the following precautionary measures:
Stay At Home
Do not go out and meet others. Also, do not let visitors come to meet you. Please make sure to stay at home. This will help contain the spread of the deadly virus.
Monitor Your Health For Symptoms
It is advisable to monitor your health for symptoms closely. Check at least twice a day, if you're getting down with a fever. Seek medical attention in case you are showing any of the common COVID-19 symptoms like cough, high fever, breathlessness, chest pain and headache.
Avoid Public Transport
Avoid public transport when you go out for essential services. Also, do not go to any public places and practice social distancing as much as possible.
Wear a Facemask
Wear a facemask whenever you meet the person who is in self quarantine as you can get infected if the person sneezes or coughs.
Also, cover your mouth with a tissue while coughing or sneezing. Remember to dispose of the tissue and immediately wash your hands. Ask the self-quarantined person to practice the same.
Wash Your Hands
Wash your hands often for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol content.
Remember, hand-washing with soap and water is a far more powerful weapon against germs than many of us realize.
Avoid Touching Face with Hands
You cannot control touching any object already touched by an infected person. This way, the chances of getting germs stick to your hands are high. However, you can control touching your eyes, nose and mouth more often with your hands. This will disallow the virus to enter your body if you have got it somehow. Please wash your hands before touching your face.
Avoid Sharing Personal Items
It is wise not to share any personal items like glasses, plates, eating utensils, cups, bedding, towels, etc with the person self-quarantined at your home. This is because sharing personal items increases the chance of virus transmission.
After using any item, make sure to wash them thoroughly with soap and water or to sanitize them properly with an alcohol-based sanitizer.
Have Good Ventilation
Ensure that the shared space in your home is adequately ventilated by like an open window or an air conditioner.
Clean Surfaces
Clean all high-touch surfaces, like tabletops, counters, doorknobs, toilets, bathroom fixtures, keyboards, bedside tables, every day. Also, clean any surface that may be left with stool, blood, or body fluids. This will help you contain the transmission of the virus.
