Here are some of the mistakes that people generally make which you should be aware of to avoid:

1. Not Informing the Police

Soon after an accident or a mishap, you should inform the local police about the incident. Many times people try to settle the dispute with other involved parties without letting the police know about it, never do that. You should know that not intimating the police about your road accident is illegal, therefore, always do that. Moreover, when you register an FIR against the other person, it also helps you in filing and getting a claim for your insurance policy.

2. Run Away from the Spot

Different people act differently at the accident spot, but most of them flee from the spot due to fear of getting caught or entangled in further trouble. You should never run away from the accident place or move your two-wheeler or anyone else’s vehicle from there. In fact, you must try to help anyone who requires medical aid there and should try to arrange that.

3. Panic and Stressing

Try to be calm in such a situation to be able to make the right decisions at that time. Getting panic only worsen the problem. Hence, don’t lose your cool and conversate with the other party at the accident spot. Try not to indulge in an argument and look for a solution to your problem. 5. Don’t Accept a Cheque as Final Payment

Never accept any cheque as the ‘final payment’ until you are completely convinced about the amount of the claim. Also, never sign any releases to your insurance company until you get correct legal advice or you find that the first estimated claim settlement value provided by the insurance company is the ultimate.

Take Away
