Benefits of the SBI Accidental Total And Permanent Disability Rider
This rider pays out the entire rider sum assured in case the policyholder suffers from total and permanent disability due to an accident. To prove the claim, the accident must be vetted by the company, to their insurance, within 90 days of the occurrence of the event. In general, the individual receiving the benefits must be disabled without interruption, for at least 180 consecutive days from the date of the accident.
Besides medical reports, the Company itself will also appoint a medical practitioner from their side, to examine the disability of the claimant. The evidence must satisfy the insurance company for them to provide benefits. The benefit can be paid out only once during the entire policy term and the rider ceases all covers once it is paid out.
Of course, all of the benefits are subject to the fact that the rider as well as the base insurance policy must be in force at the time of the accident and disability. A waiting period of 180 consecutive days from the date of the accident applies to the SBI Accidental Total and Permanent Disability Rider.
Exclusions of SBI Accidental Total And Permanent Disability Rider
The following are some of the circumstances that are not covered by the SBI Accidental Total and Permanent Disability Rider.
- Death or disability caused by infection except when the cause of the infection is an external wound caused by an accident.
- If the policyholder is under the influence except that prescribed by a registered medical practitioner.
- If the claimant is involved in illegal and unlawful activities or the accident is due to war or civil commotion.
- Accidents that are caused by Nuclear contamination or are associated with it.
- If the cause is a self-inflicted one or due to any hazardous sports or pastimes, the SBI Accidental Total and Permanent Disability Rider does not provide cover.
- Suicide claims are also not provided benefits under this rider.
