Going for long drives by taking out time from our busy schedules are therapeutic for a lot of us. It can be a long road trip or an impromptu picnic plan with your loved ones. Documents You Must Carry During A Long Drive

Here is a list of all the important documents mentioned which you must carry during a road trip or a long drive:

1. Copy of Vehicle Registration Certificate

When on the road, you must keep a copy of your car’s RC certificate along with you. It is an official document carrying proof regarding the registration of your car and consists of crucial information like vehicle number, owner’s address, etc.

2. Driving Licence

A driving license is an official document issued by the Regional Transport Authority/ Offices (RTA/RTO), that permits the holder to legally drive a vehicle on the Indian roads. This document can also act as an identity card and is necessary to be carried along while driving.Moreover, an individual is first asked to show their driving license whenever stopped by the authorities/cops while driving.

3. PUC Certificate

Pollution under control certificate is an important document for all the vehicles that are driven on the Indian roads. It acts as an affirmation that the smoke emitted from your car is as per the standards set by the concerned authorities. Also, it certifies that the gases released from the vehicle are not harmful to the environment or causing pollution.

4. Insurance Document

According to the Motor Vehicle Act 1988, all the vehicles plying on the Indian roads must have an updated insurance policy for their car. As per rule 141 of the act, the insurance company will provide an insurance certificate that will contain information regarding your vehicle’s insurance. It is advisable that one should carry a copy of their insurance certificate with them all the time, while the original certificate can be kept home safely.

1. Get Enough Sleep: Driving for long periods of time is a strenuous job. Moreover, it is important that the driver remain alert at all times to not risk any accidents. Hence, it is crucial whoever drives for the trip takes adequate rest before the journey begins.

2. Stay Hydrated And Bring Healthy Snacks: It is crucial that everyone travelling on the road trip remain healthy and at their best for the journey. Staying hydrated and eating the right kind of food can ensure that the journey goes smoothly.

3. Plan Your Rest Stops: Make sure to check the map beforehand to find the right rest stops for your journey. It will ease any of your stress due to uncertainties. Especially if you plan to halt there for the night.

4. Keep Emergency Numbers Close: Keep the basic numbers such as the police station, ambulance and fire helplines close at hand when travelling. It can make a world of difference in the event of a mishap or crisis.
