List Of Documents To Carry When Riding A Bike

Documents to Take With You When Riding A Bike

When riding your bike in India, you should always carry the following documents with you:

1. Certificate of Registration

The RC will examine the motorcycle to verify if it is legal and has been properly registered with the Regional Transport Office (RTO). The registration number, the bike's name, and model, as well as the owner's contact information, would all be recorded by the RC for the bike.

2. Valid Driver's License

A valid driver's licence is also required, which allows the possessor to legally ride a two-wheeler on public roadways. The RTO gives it to the candidate once he or she passes the relevant driving test. It also specifies whether you may ride a two-wheeler with or without gears. It's critical that you ride a bike that meets your driver's licence standards. According to the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988, you must carry your driver's licence with you at all times when riding a bike. You can carry a physical copy or use programmes like DigiLocker or mParivahan to convert it to digital.

3. Bike Insurance Protection

As needed by law, your bike must also be protected up to Third-Party Bike Insurance coverage. Comprehensive Bike Insurance, which covers Third-Party and Own-Damage coverage, can provide additional security. The Motor Vehicles Act of 1988 requires you to have the insurance policy papers for your motorcycle with you at all times. The registration number of the motorcycle, the policy's duration, the coverage maximum, and the name of the insurance provider will all be included.

4. Certificate of Pollution Control (PUC)

The PUC Certificate verifies the amount of pollution your bicycle produces. It will also include the registration number of the bike on it. It will determine if your vehicle's carbon monoxide emissions are below legal limits. On Indian roads, you must always have your motorcycle with you.

5. Certificate of Fitness

You must always carry a bike fitness certificate with you on the road if your bike is over 15 years old. Every two years, this will need to be renewed.

6. Medical Fitness Certificate

A medical certificate proving their capacity to ride a two-wheeler is required for those over the age of 50.

Take Away

To be in compliance with the law, keep this list on hand and remember to carry the above-mentioned documents with you at all times. When riding a bike, one of the documents you must take with you is bike insurance. Bike insurance also covers theft and physical damage to your bike as a result of natural or man-made calamities. You no longer need to rely on a broker to insure your motorcycle, which is a good thing. New-age insurance companies make it simple to get insurance for your two-wheeler.
