With the increase in the number of vehicles on the road, the number of accidents and theft have increased over a period of time. If you own a bike then purchasing a bike insurance policy can help you overcome such financial losses. In the event of a mishap you can file a claim that will help you reduce financial losses and make it easier for you to manage the expense. Although filing a claim for bike insurance is quite simple, you must have all the relevant documents required at the time of filing a bike insurance claim or the claim can be denied.

A bike owner can file two types of claims if they have a bike insurance policy, two different types of claims are cashless claims and reimbursement claims. For a cashless claim, the policyholder must drive their two-wheeler to the network garage of the insurance company where the insurance provider will  pay the garage for the repair expenses.

At the time of filing a claim, the policyholder must provide necessary documents along with the documents required in different circumstances. Below mentioned is the list of documents, which are required at the time of filing a claim for accident or theft: 

Documents Required in case of an Accident/Collision

  • Bike Insurance Original Documents
  • Duly filled and signed claim form
  • Copy of the Certificate of Registration
  • Copy of Driver’s License
  • Copy of FIR
  • Estimate of Repair Expenses
  • Original Tax Receipts
  • Receipts and Bills of Repair Expenses Paid

Documents Required in case of Theft of Bike

  • Bike Insurance Original Documents
  • Original Certificate of Registration
  • Original Tax Receipts
  • Verified Theft Declaration from Regional Transport Office
  • Duplicate Keys and Other Accessories
  • Final police report, First Information Report (FIR)
  • Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC)
  • Theft notification letter to the RTO, declaring that the bike has been stolen and is no longer in use.
  • Forms 28, 29, 30, and 35, duly signed by the policyholder and the finance officer.

To Conclude

Before filing a claim, you must have information about the required documents and other procedures. Above mentioned list of documents are required for bike insurance claims in case of an accident or theft. If you fail to provide the necessary documents at the time of filing claim for bike insurance, your bike insurance claim will be denied.
