Different Government Aided Girl Child Schemes

With the target of changing the social attitude towards the girl child in India, more policies are introduced by the Government compared to the male child. It is usually done to uplift their position in society. Since girls have an equal hand in the progress of a nation, the country has to ensure their well-being. Thus, to ensure that every girl child is progressing with proper education, nutrition and growth, the Government of India has launched different schemes. Let us take a look at various girl-child plans below.

Different Government-Aided Girl Child Schemes

The Government of India has introduced different schemes to offer financial incentives to the girl child, avail quotas, get loans and subsidies and many more. Some of those schemes we have mentioned below.

  • Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana

It is a popular scheme and an integral part of the "Beti Bachao, Bet Padhao" campaign. SSY is a saving scheme for the progress of a girl child and securing their future. This plan encourages parents to create a fund for meeting their marriage and education expenses.

  • Balika Samridhi Yojana

The Government mainly introduces BSY for the girl Childs' upliftment. Balika Samridhi Yojana is a tiny saving deposit scheme introduced by the Indian Government in August 1997. The authorities implemented this plan to change society's attitude towards a female child during birth, assisting the girl in accepting income-generating activities, and retaining and enrolling girl children in schools. This scheme applies to both rural and urban areas.

  • Mukhyamantri Rajshri Yojana

To decrease the female feticide rate and offer correct education and medical care to the mothers, the Rajasthan State Government has introduced this scheme. It aims at financially assisting and educating the families to take care of their girl children and spread positivity about them.

  • Mukhyamantri Laadli Yojana

To boost the sex ratio between males and females, the Government offers financial assistance to the people below the poverty line in Jharkhand state through the MLY scheme. This scheme helps to create awareness of women's rights and ensures gender equality by making the girl child independent. The girl will get an interim payment and a hefty amount at 21.

  • Mazi Kanya Bhagyashree Scheme

The Government of Maharashtra launched a new plan in 2016, the old scheme of Sukanya. Under this plan, below the poverty line or underprivileged families receive financial help for their daughters' education and upbringing. Famous actress Bhagyasree is the brand ambassador of this scheme and thus the name.

  • Nanda Devi Kanya Yojana

The Uttarakhand State Government with the Women and Child Welfare Department has introduced the scheme to help couples with only one girl child. The State Government makes a fixed deposit of 1500 INR in the name of the newly born girl child. When the child accomplishes her higher education and attains the age of 18, she will receive the amount.

  • Mukhyamantri Kanya Suraksha Yojana

The Bihar State Government introduces the MKS scheme to give financial help to the BPL families with girl children born after November 2007. You must register the child's birth within a year, where you will receive Rs. 2,000.
