Eligibility of Aarogya Raksha Scheme
All the Above Poverty Line (APL) and Below Poverty Line (BPL) families that belong to Andhra Pradesh can enroll under Aarogya Raksha health scheme. The criteria is not set on the basis of the minimum income of a family. In order to buy the policy, the following documents will be required along with an active contact number that is linked to the Aadhaar card:

Benefits of Aarogya Raksha
Aarogya Raksha is a one-of-a-kind scheme that provides health insurance coverage to everyone. Following are the benefits that facilitate the policyholders to avail quality healthcare.
1. Cashless Treatment
The policyholders of Aarogya Raksha policy can avail cashless treatment without having to worry about paying for the hospital bills out of their own pocket. It keeps the policyholder stress-free even in the time of emergency. Note that the cashless treatment facility can only be availed at the network hospitals.
2. Several Empanelled Hospitals
One of the most important benefits that the scheme provides the policyholder is that both private and government hospitals are empanelled under it. This will save the time of the policyholder in case of an emergency and enable the treatment to begin sooner.
3. Wide Scope of Cover
Aarogya Raksha protects the insured against several diseases which includes more than 1,059 treatments. It reduces the chances of a patient being refused treatment for a particular illness, thereby keeping the insured mentally relaxed.
4. Cover For Follow-up Treatments
Follow-up treatments can prove to be a costly affair for the patient as well as his/her family. With the Aarogya Raksha scheme, the policyholder gets cover for follow-up treatments as well.
5. Cover for Ayurvedic Treatment
The Aarogya Raksha scheme covers the policyholder for Ayurvedic treatment in a government hospital provided that the treatment is availed in any Quality Council of India/National Accreditation Board on Health accredited hospital.
Aarogya Raksha Premium And Beneficiaries
Aarogya Raksha scheme comes in three plans that differ in the number of beneficiaries they cover. The sum insured of the policies ranges between Rs. 1 lakh and Rs. 10 lakh.
- Plan A: The health insurance premium under this policy ranges between Rs. 2,000 and Rs. 1,4500. The policy covers the account holder, spouse, and two dependent children and has 35 years as the exit age.
- Plan B: The health insurance premium under this policy ranges between Rs. 3,000 and Rs. 2,5500. The policy covers the account holder, spouse, and two dependent children and has 70 years as the exit age.
- Plan C: The health insurance premium under this policy ranges between Rs. 5,000 and Rs. 6,2500. The policy covers the account holder, spouse, two dependent children, and dependent parents and has 70 years as the exit age.
Exclusions Under Aarogya Raksha
Aarogya Raksha scheme does not cover the following healthcare expenses:
- Eyesight correction
- Change of gender surgeries
- Cost of vaccination unless required due to animal bite
- Obesity treatment
- Suicide
- Venereal disease
- Congenital anomalies
- Plastic or cosmetic surgery
- Dental treatment unless required due to an accident
- Injuries due to war
- Treatment required due to AIDS
How to Enroll for Aarogya Raksha?
Aarogya Raksha Scheme has a fairly easy enrolment process. One can register as a new beneficiary or renew the policy quickly if they have the required documents. One can register either from the health insurance company or by visiting the local kiosk.
1. From the Insurance Company
- Visit the website of the preferred insurance company
- Navigate to Aarogya raksha webpage
- Fill details in the Aarogya Raksha application form
- Make the payment to complete the process
- You can now download the Aarogya Raksha Health Card
2. At the Local Kiosk
- Carry your Aadhaar card and an active mobile phone that is linked to the Aadhaar card
- The kiosk operator will ask for your Aadhaar number, after which you will receive a One Time Password (OTP).
- Share the OPT with the operator
- Once the registration process is complete, your Aarigya Raksha health card will be printed by the operator

To download and print the Aarogya Raksha Health Card, a few steps given below are to be followed:
- Visit the official website of Dr. YSR Aarogyasri Healthcare Trust
- Click on Aarogya Raksha button
- Click on ‘Click here to enrol’
- Enter your Aadhaar number in the space given. Then click ‘Go’
- Enter mobile number. Then click on ‘Send OTP’
- Enter the OTP. Then click on ‘Verify’
- Choose a family member. Then click on ‘Download Health Card’.
The Aarogya Raksha scheme aims to improve the equity of access to Above Poverty Line families to quality private healthcare services to provide financial support every year for individuals for catastrophic health requirements. The policy also offers 138 follow-up services for a year through fixed packages to the patients who need long-term follow-up therapy to get the maximum benefit from the procedure. Note that the follow-up packages include medication and consultation.
