About Fiat
Fiat Automobiles is an Italian automobile manufacturer founded in 1899. Fiat Automobiles is considered the largest automobile producer in Italy. Earlier it remained the largest automobile producer in Europe while ranked third in the world after General Motors and Ford for more than 20 years. In 2013, the company was the second-largest European automaker in terms of volumes manufactured and the seventh in the world.
In 1970, Fiat Automobiles gave employment to over 100,000 in Italy when the production of the company peaked with 1.4 million cars. As of 2002, the company managed to build over 10 lakh vehicles at six different plants in Italy. Fiat bagged several international awards including the European Car of the Year award for nine times, which is a record, and it is listed several times for emitting the lowest level of CO2 by vehicles sold in Europe.
Fiat entered India with the investment in the Premier Automobile Group by introducing the Premier Padmini. The car is popularly known as Fiat in India and was a competitor to the Ambassador car in India during the 1970s and 80s. At that time, other models launched by the company were Fiat 1100, Fiat Uno, etc. Later, Fiat collaborated with Tata Motors to set up their plant at Ranjangaon in 1997 and introduced the brands like Linea, Tata Vista, Tata Manza, and many more. In the year 2015, a Maserati car was launched in India and in 2016, the Jeep car was launched as the Jeep Wrangler and Grand Cherokee.
Fiat Car Insurance
The traffic law applies equally to all the cars on the road in India. Therefore, while buying a Fiat car you should ensure purchasing a car insurance plan along with your car to insure it from damage or loss incurred due to a collision or a mishap by providing compensation. To provide your Fiat car all-around protection, you should opt for standalone own-damage car insurance or comprehensive car insurance plans that safeguard it from events such as accidents, theft, vandalism, fire, natural calamities, man-made disasters.
While driving a Fiat car, you need to carry at least a third party car insurance policy in India as a compulsion. The third party or liability only is a basic insurance that is designed to take care of third party liabilities like injuries, death and property damage. If you get caught driving your Fiat car without owing at least the third party cover, you can be punished with a penalty of Rs. 2,000 or/and be imprisoned for a maximum of 3 months. The premium of the own-damage car insurance of your Fiat car is based on its Insured Declared Value (IDV), which is computed with the deduction of the depreciation applied on the parts of the car from its selling price. It is the maximum amount that policyholders are entitled to get as compensation by their insurance company in case of a mishap.
You can expand the coverage of your car insurance plan that you bought for your Fiat car by adding some add-on covers to your policy. You can opt for these optional covers based on your requirements by paying an additional premium. Here are some add-on covers that can be a great addition to your Fiat car insurance
- Zero Depreciation Cover: This add-on eliminates the consideration of depreciation cost during the calculation of claim amount by your insurer, which helps you get a higher claim. However, this add-on can be applicable to cars of not more than five years and can be availed for a limited number of times only in a policy year.
- Roadside Assistance Cover: In a condition where your Fiat car breaks down in the middle of the road, this add-on cover comes to rescue you in several ways such as towing your car to the garage, arranging a technician for on-site repairs, fuel delivery, and so on.
- Consumables Cover: The consumables cover is an add-on that provides you with coverage for the consumables used while repairing your Fiat car. This cover gives coverage for engine oil, oil filter, grease, air conditioner gas and bearings, screws and nuts, etc.

Claim Cashless Car Insurance For Fiat Cars
There are two types of claim processes such as cashless and reimbursement. However, policyholders can opt for any of these, but cashless is more preferred and recommended. The cashless car insurance feature helps you get your Fiat car repaired at the network garage of your insurance company free of cost and your insurer settles your repair bill directly with the garage. To avail this facility, you need to intimate your insurance company at the earliest about the accident and take your car to a garage in their network only.
The facility saves you from making any payment in a situation after the mishap. It requires very few documents to be submitted and lesser formalities to go through when compared to the reimbursement process. Under this process, a surveyor reaches the accident spot to find the extent of damage based on which insurer settles your claim. The garages listed in the network of insurance providers are the best repair centres, which allows you to get quality repair services for free.
Renew Expired Policy for Fiat Cars
If your car insurance plan is expired, it can bring various adverse effects. You can lose your policy coverage, No Claim Bonus (NCB) benefit, legal compliance, and so on. Losing these facilities can hit you legally as well as financially as you can be penalised for driving without an active policy and no compensation will be offered in case of any mishap. Thus, it is suggested to renew your policy on time and connect with your insurer or agent at the earliest if it expires somehow.
To renew your Fiat car insurance, your insurer can send a representative to assess its condition. During the examination, you may have to show a few documents to the surveyor such as a car registration certificate, a copy of the expired policy, etc. However, you can renew your car insurance policy even after its expiry within 90 days of expiration. This facility is known as the grace period with which you can renew your plan online or offline within 90 days of its expiry date.
